Biocompatible clear copolyester

TECADUR MT TR natural

Ensinger TECADUR MT TR natural is made from Eastman Tritan copolyester resin, and is a clear, high impact resistant plastic, with very low extractables under various solvents. It has the impact resistant plastic properties of Polycarbonate, combined with the advantage of being BPA free. This clear transparent plastic extends the Ensinger medical portfolio, and has been tested to ISO 10993 for biocompatibility with blood and tissue contact, and to the BPOG protocol for extractable allowance. In addition, USP Class VI information for reactivity and toxicity is available for the raw material. These characteristics make TECADUR MT TR a perfect biocompatible material candidate in single use systems in biotechnology applications.

A preliminary screening has been performed on typical production lots of TECADUR MT TR natural to estimate the compatibility of the material with the solvents specified in the BPOG Standard Extractable Protocol. End use customers should also perform their own tests on finished products to confirm compliance and compatibility is maintained.

TECADUR MT TR natural is color stable in the presence of both ETO, and e-beam sterilization, as well as to gamma sterilization exposure. As molded, it has a notched IZOD impact of 18.4 foot pounds, and it has the excellent Tritan chemical resistance profile. TECADUR MT TR natural also has outstanding hydrolytic stability, so parts made from this innovative polymer are unlikely to
